If you had ads like this: http://imgur.com/ioIBHDC I'd be fine! It's away from any actual content on the site.
What would you think about unobtrusive advertisements?

contents..revenue...if the content is the the download keys... put the ads near the download keys on the submissions/spotlight pages. the page is sponsored by the ad...not the author or source of the program key.I have to go with what works for our page format. Right now the only thing that works is top and bottom advertisements, which is perfectly fine.
I think that you should do what you need to do in order to keep the site going. No one likes ads, but no one will begrudge you adding them. Oh, should I be seeing ads already? I usually browse this site on my phone with no blocker and can't see any ads or placeholders where ads should be.Thanks. No, there's no ads yet. The space is there, but there's nothing to put in it.
I think you should charge a one time membership fee instead.
I remember when you started this place you mentioned the built-from-scratch aspect of the forum was inspired by the DIY aspect of Smilebasic.
You should further that inspiration and charge $10, just like they do. It's only fair.
I expect this proposal to be extremely popular.
