An auto double-post merger would be cool, similar to GBAtemp. It could help prevent clutter and spam, should the site be hit with some someday.
Also, a deleted post box could be useful for solving confusion when seeing threads that have deleted posts. Reasons could also be added along side the deleted post.
For example:
User 1: Ew SBS is gross
User 2: No u
User 3: ^He right
Becomes:
User 1: Ew SBS is gross
User 2: [removed by Yttria, reason: dead memes are not allowed on my Christian Minecraft server]
User 3: ^He right
Instead of the deleted post just disappearing. The deleted post box could also have some special formatting or whatever so it doesn't blend in with other posts, such as a smaller box.

Also, remove notification spam when someone edits their post ten times in a row.
I'm fairly sure thus must've been mentioned 100 times before, but can we get an option to turn off "edited" in the Activity feed??! Oh, yes it has. Sorry.
Random has talked about these before, and because of the way the site was written, it would be extremely difficult to write in this functionality. Just wait for the new site. Also, remove notification spam when someone edits their post ten times in a row.
I'm on the fence, as far as "wait for the new site" goes. Mostly because I've been in that exact same situation myself.
When you start writing a site like this, it's a little thing.
A text box here, registration database there, uploads and avatars, and it all comes together nicely, bit by bit.
Then you think "I should fix that up. I've learned a lot in recent years, I can do it better, now."
And you try. You make a start, and you spend a month working on it...
It's still just a single text box, and you have such a long way to go before reaching anything like what it should be, what it already is, and that's before those hundreds of nips and tucks that you've long since forgotten about.
It's really demotivating to sit there, look at everything you've accomplished, and realise.. .. it was already there!
In your mind, you frequently feel like the time was wasted. Why reinvent the wheel?
It took me years, almost a decade, before I properly attempted my own forum-rewrite, and boy was it hard!
It wasn't until one really awkward bug started to frequently show up that I felt it was time to do it.
.. but I probably shouldn't have left it that long.
I really do wish Random all the best in doing that, but I know just how hard of a climb it can be.

I managed to rewrite SmileBASIC API after all, and that took a lot of time to get to a point where I was satisfied with how well it could be maintained. I've seen the source for SmileBASIC Source a few times before, and I would say outside of website developers, I know the internals the best out of any community member. A lot of the query APIs (like chatauth) were made just so I could write bots and other weird things lmao. A lot of the site was just kinda tacked on, without really considering if it would be future proof, so a rewrite is needed to really add anything new or change anything about it. Again, exactly how SmileBASIC API was. It's demotivating for Random, but all we can do is wait for him to get everything together for the new site. Until then, I can't really see anything new being added to the site.
Agh guys I'm really sorry. I'm really really sorry.
I just looked at the code for history and so many things use it and I'm afraid to poke around in it to get history to show only "certain kinds" because it'll probably break so many other things and I don't even know how this code works to be honest. It's awful and far too specific for this very singular task, which for some reason never included a "type" of history.
Like... you think it's just as easy as adding limits to the query, and normally it would be, but then I go and see what uses this and it's all this other stuff and I remember that there's all these connected systems with the history and it's a nightmare. I don't want to break the website... I'm really sorry.
