I don't care how clever the name is, I hate this. If SmileBASIC gets removed from the eShop temporarily, the Miiverse page better stick around, else I'm afraid of all the Miiverse posts getting deleted.I think you'll be fine. Just try not to talk about the exploit. You will get b7d. ...probably

He's crediting "the lumage team" for the BGSCREEN bug XD
The exploit isn't released yet so don't get too excited by that link.
Just thought the credit was funny. I'm not expecting Lumage to be flattered.
(Lumage, if you're reading this, you might want to post a github issue or contact him via twitter if you don't want to be credited in that way)
Credits smealum - HBL/*hax payload/ROP build system base All the testers :) The lumage team for discovering the RAM bug
Considering I reported the bug the moment he said he was able to use it...
And that all I could actually do while we were actually researching it was provide snacks, I'm simultaneously flattered and appalled. Yeah, this isn't really a thing I want my name on, thanks for the notice. Especially as he didn't seem to quite bother to do his research on what (or rather, whom) the 'lumage' name on those links referred to.
The exploit for it should be up within 18 hours from the posting of this post, but it could be later or earlier.

(If you couldn't tell I'm not very good at creating tickets)
thought it was 18 https://github.com/MrNbaYoh/mrnbayoh.github.io/issues/1Um. Yeah. That's what I meant..... Sorry
Got this exploit on my old 3DS only to immediately uninstall it. The only reason I used it was for SNES emulation, which the new 3DS now has officially. The piracy has gotten worse since I last used homebrew, too. I guess I'm just incredibly salty about the homebrew community, their choice of game, freeShop existing, the fact that everyone will disregard the amazing SmileBASIC community, and freeShop existing.
(well, actually reconsidering uninstalling because SmileBASIC File Manager)
Is FreeShop some type of Eshop where everything is free? Isn't that like, piracy or something?Yep. Homebrew in general is illegal, though, so the exploiters don't really care about piracy. That's why Nintendo is trying really hard to stop people from exploiting.
please just close this thread or delete it or
"Their" homebrew community and ours don't belong together. Why they got so intermixed in the first place is something I fail to understand, but I don't want any more of it.
I have no authority to tell you to do anything but I have the right to be mad aagh
You know that you can actually use homebrew without pirating anything right ? The way I see it, it's the only way to get region-free cartridges.
Regarding SmileBasic I really don't understand why no one use homebrews to import and export code, it'd be much simplier than PetitModem :/
Miiverse community should be fine, there are still communities for games previously hacked and removed from eshop.
Thankfully, the exploit don't use the latest update of the game, so I don't think it will be pull out from the eshop soon !
The only thing I'm affraid of, is that this could cause a greater delay for an european release of the game :/

It's possible to avoid piracy, but don't deny that a large portion of "unlocking" the system does it for piracy. Region-free is one thing, but that's not what goes on in the end. People do use homebrew for file transfer, look up SmileBasic File Manager <already addressed> I don't think this will actually affect Europe that much and even if it did you wouldn't be able to tell. Then again, even longer approval times could still happen.
I need to unwatch this.
Oh I didn't know that.
Thanks for your answers, anyway !
Regarding piracy, I don't deny it, but well, as an European user who had to go to the trouble to import a console just to play some games, and still want Japanese exclusive titles anyway, please let me think I'm not the only one to do that ._.
