The stupid app has been taken off the eShop, the DSi shop has shut down. No money is being made from Petit Computer. How is sharing a ROM for an impossible-to-find game that is raking in ZERO revenue considered "piracy"? When a speedrunner downloads a ROM for an old game to play on an emulator, does he get banned from Twitch while running it? No! Why are the admins against the idea of the preserving this great program? I bet at least ONE admin here has a ROM of some old game that he plays using an emulator, so why we can't we share PTC? I have a copies of PTC but I can't even share them. Last time I checked, Nintendo wasn't selling PTC on their Virtual Console either.
Why is sharing PTC ROMs not Allowed?
CYA. We can't get in trouble for piracy if we don't allow people to distribute ROMs. Piracy is unauthorized distribution of something, it doesn't have to do with money in legal terms (but that's the motivation behind the law, yes.) Nobody here is authorized to distribute PTC. That doesn't say anything about our moral standing about it, just that we don't allow it as a legal defense.
