It's probably super early for this, but I thought for these two months, many of us would be the planning stage of making our games, and I thought this would be a good place for us to help eachother out.
The goal of this thread is to
1. Share Ideas
2. Share Games
3. Share Critisism/Opinions
Hence the name, "Sharing Thread"
I feel that RPG Maker FES complements SmileBASIC perfectly, in that they're both tools people use to create the games of their dreams! RPG Maker FES is also great in that you don't have to download the full game to play peoples games! Just download the 3DS App "RPG Maker Player" off the Eshop, and enjoy!
I hope you guys make the most of this thread, because I want to see plenty of great games around her in 2-3 months time! Maybe if this goes well enough, maybe we can hold contests for it, and see the best Maker win, or collaborate on something great, and make a the most outstanding game!
Good luck, and carpe diem~!

Some downfalls. I see no mention of a sprite editor. Or BG tile editor. We will have to rely on dlc to get new sprites and tiles. (How will this play with the free player? Is dlc required to play games utilizing dlc?)
No sound editor.
No animation editor.
I think the big worry here is that every game is gonna be too "samey" story being the only difference.

In my opinion, they'll probably have those (to an extent, possibly DLC). They have too good of a reputation from SB to go to the extent of not including mass customization.

That wouldn't really make any sense, especially since part kf the appeal is that the player is free in the first place. Also I think when they said DLC, they meant game updates and such (Although I wouldn't be surprised if there was some sort of payed DLC down the line) Idk what a sound editor does though. I don't think SB had a sound editor past BGM and the 150 some sounds they gave you. A sprite editor really should be added though, but I feel they may not want to because: A. They don't want to/can't sort out copyright problems from people making characters from other games in the editor B. They don't want to/can't deal with suggestive themes and nudity being drawn in the editor C. The Sound Editor and Sprite Editor are still in the works and will be added iin a future update D. The creators don't know that a Sound Editor/Sprite Editor are big things fans of the game want, so they didn't add them, but they could be convinced to add them through fan outcry. E. They don't want low effort/quality sprites making the editor look bad (Although I seriously doubt this one) I can only hope the creators of RPG Maker FES have taken some notes from SmileBASIC, because they're both similar tools. Maybe if they don't know of it, someone could tell them about it, and say they could take some inspiration from it to make their tool even better.
I still don't know what FES stands for...I tried for like an entire 10 minutes to try and figure it out and I have no idea. Even tried translating the Japanese title and the only translation I get is "fes". Looking up a definition for fes gives you a city in north Morocco. Googling "japan fes" gives you Japanese festivals in your area. Also, fes in Catalan means time.
Wow, this is quite a mystery! It's fabulous! Electrifying! Stupendous, even!
From a Japanese RPG Maker Fes site. "On November 24, Nintendo 3DS software "RPG Maker Festival" will be released" Sauceor is this just google translate being a jerk?
so Yeah, no sprite edit, and no sound editor. However, I did here about a game that creatively used scripts to make a more turn based tactical RPG. No idea what it is called, but I heard about it.
EDIT: Also Disappointed at the lack of the currently Japan exclusive Disgaea character pack. lol Would have been interesting to see all the Disgaea Infinite 2 attempts.

Should we tell him that you can only create and upload 1 rpg unless you pay at LEAST a dollar for more slots?Yeah, good idea to tell me. I was not super excited, given how the past two PS2 RPG Makers were. Plus I have the vastly superior RPG Maker VX Ace, and have barely touched it. (it was from a super cheap humble bundle)
