Help: Images from PC to SB

If you can access homebrew, you should get SBFM (SmileBASIC File Manager) I use it to import some images..
Just plug them into the splitter, and then on the computer reverse the order the cables are in. The order should be the headphone port to the microphone port and vise versa for the other cable.
The smilebasic file manger always says the grps I import are curropted
If you are importing from PNG to GRP you must pass it through SmileBASIC Tools
Not really. You can just use the compresser tool (LZSS) found in the same folder PetitModem is in and send via PetitModem. Once on the 3DS, you can convert the compressed file into a GRP.

I see. Couldn't you still kinda run it through the tool, make the extension (while keeping the .PZG extension before it) .DAT, and then send it using SBFM?

Nope, you need to pass it throughSmileBASIC tools because injects headers, footers, whatever.

Eh I guess. I don't really know. I just use the tool when I send files with PetitModem, so I would assume it would also work with SBFM.

They use a different sending system.

PetitModem sends whatever file it doesn't know as a DAT: file, and since SBFM turns any extension from X: to .X (I assume), I thought that changing the compressed file's extension to .DAT (while keeping .PZG before it) would produce the same result as PetitModem, which once on the 3DS, could use the 3DS version of the tool to convert it into a GRP. But hey, I didn't homebrew my 3DS, so someone else would have to prove my theory.

GRPs or DATs are B<filename> TXTs or PRGs are T<filename>

Oh ok. So all you would have to do is change the file from X.(PNG, JPG, etc.) to X.PZG using the LZSS compression tool, then prepare it for SBFM by renaming it to BX.PZG (I assume).

No, you have to convert a standard image file into a GRP file before sending with SBFM.

Nvm 😆

I presume so. As long as it's an aux cable. Also, you should get a splitter like this: https://www.amazon.com/Extrasensory-Devices-ESDHW011-Headphone-Microphone/dp/B006T65CXE. The basic setup is just two aux cables and a splitter (or two if your computer doesn't have a seperate headphone and microphone jack but has a combo audio jack for both).
Geez, that's easily $40.00 cash right there. Harsh.
Well, only if you need two splitters. One splitter is needed for the 3DS, but your computer should have one headphone port and one microphone port. Sometimes, computers may have one audio jack instead of two, and this probably means it contains a combo audio jack (a headphone and microphone port in one, like the 3DS). Rarely, newer computers will only have a headphone jack, so you should check your computer model to see what type of jack(s) you have.
I only have a laptop, it has a combo jack, (Headphone/MIC) but only one. Doesn't that mean I would need 2 splitters?

Yes.

Actually, more like 25$. I found a cheap splitter for 7$: https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Headsets-Separate-Headphone-Microphone/dp/B00Y458NA6 And I also have a job so i'ts fairly easy for me to make money.
I have a job working for my family business, but I rarely ever get cash from it. (Long story) Also I don't feel safe buying that splitter over the recommended one, but perhaps you could let me know (if you're purchasing it) whether it works or not. =)

It's arriving Tuesday so I'll let you know then. Also, If you decide to purchase these components, you can order the same splitter with a different color for 1$ less: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LM0ZGK6. EDIT: IT'S NOT THE SAME SPLITTER! DO NOT ORDER!

Nathaniel, that cord doesn't have 3 lines at the male side of the cord like the other one. https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Headsets-Separate-Headphone-Microphone/dp/B00Y458NA6 it shouldn't work with petitmodem. I hope you can cancel or return you're order.

He's right. That's a a headphone splitter 😬. Hopefully you can cancel your order in time.

Don't worry. I ordered the first one before I found this one. Good thing you found my mistake before anyone else ordered it!

I got sbfilemanager working and transferred it.Thanks for the help

Ah, glad to hear it. Let me know if it works and I'll probably order the same stuff.

The components have arrived! I'm testing them out right now.

Let me know how it turns out! =P
