well, that's enough reason for me. EDIT: oh I should answer the actual question Personally I hate tablets and smartphones, so really anything would be a suitable replacement.

Android is Linux so is OSx
macOS is a Unix-family system but it is not Linux.

Well it depends on what you're using a tablet for. so, if you want something that wastes your money and space without doing anything useful, the 3DS probably isn't worth it.
