It seems though that PCMSTREAM would have to sample at least 10x faster than its maximum for composite out.

at least i can make some low visual noise in a monitor by pumping white noise into it

Hm. This is interesting. It would be hard to control, and be a reliable stream, but seems like an interesting idea

Are we legit going to hack SB into a hobbyist VJ tool SIGN ME UP PLEASE

I'm actually dead serious, I want to know your setup for this. Like, every detail.

YES, so, this is going to work like composite video for SB noice

something else i'd love and would probably be more possible is connecting the 3DS to the RX pin on my arduino and sending data that way. I haven't been able to get the arduino drivers installed on my computer though :c

oh but what probably is very possible is a custom analog video signal with a custom pc program to pick it up via the audio input

Okay, for plain data, we know PetitModem already does this. I'm thinking of making my own program for it now.

So basically, it'd be an extremely poor-man's capture card?

Pretty much!

What would be more impressive though, is inputting analog video and loading it in the 3DS.

With lossy analog quality though, you could theoretically transfer a full color 400x240 image in 9 seconds to the 3DS... in theory.

Nice, you could also do live compression and decompression to transfer it even faster :)

live video decompression is too slow Even decompressing an array with 2 colors per element, at 10 FPS, is not possible.

Well, I mean for transferring the vdeo

I guess, but we have to see what is slower? transferring larger files, or decompression a good rule of thumb is: anything inside a FOR loop is slower than you think.

Tru...

Maybe PixiVisor (by NightRadio) could be useful for the implementation (and it's open source!)
