As the title states, I want to know why you’re here. For myself, I’m here because I have more fun making games than I do playing them. I started programming with Petit Computer in 2013. It was my first experience with programming. At the time all I could make was a simple calculator. It wasn’t great. Later on I made my first attempt at making a 2D portal game. The thing wasn’t very good. It was a mess of spaghetti code that functioned okay (I hope I’m a little better at coding now). It’s taken me hundreds of hours of learning to get to the point where I am now. Since then I’ve worked on learning Java Script, Python, and Pico 8. My point to all of this is that for some people Smile Basic is their first introduction to programming (as it was for me). Rather than tearing down their first creations, why not offer positive support for the effort and offer advice when needed. Creating pseudo-macho in-groups is not a great way to bring in new people to the community. If you can’t say something nice, then please be respectfully quiet. Quit trying to label people as “other” so that they can be shoved off into an out-group. Not all of us have been fortunate enough to have formal training in computer sciences. Please ask yourself this: “Am I here to inflate my self-worth by tearing down others, or am I here to learn and share what I know with others? ”.
Feel free to comment.
Why are you here?

I'm here because I have to be ┐( ˘_˘)┌
But seriously, I've already talked about your later topics: https://smilebasicsource.com/forum?ftid=729. I agree that we should be more encouraging.
I'm here because I have no where else to be ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I just like programming in general. I pretty much program for all the devices I own. I code in C and Java for my laptop and Raspberry Pi, I code in Z80/eZ80 Assembly and TI-BASIC for my TI-84+/TI-84+CSE/TI-84+CE graphing calculators, I program in C and SmileBASIC for my 3DS, I program in JavaScript for the web. Basically, if I own a platform, I will probably start programming for it eventually.
The reason I have an account here on this forum specifically is because I write software in SmileBASIC (occasionally). I also check here for news sometimes... hoping for that foretold SmileBASIC BIG for Wii U to come out one day.
I'm here because I want to learn more and have some BASIC experience from 3rd and 4th grade. Also the Color compition helped getting me to upload a finished and mostly polished, bug-reduced program.
I joined the bandwagon with PComputer, and made a few things, but nothing worth sharing.
I didn't even notice Smile Basic had launched until this June! I jumped on board and have been very happy with the improvements overall.
According to my 3DS Activity Log
Petit Computer was first used on March 4th 2013
Only 35 hours used
Smile Basic was first used on June 25th 2016
61 hours logged so far.
I'm here because I have enough unfinished projects to last for "a long time" and sometimes upload them. :P
Also because it's nice to be able to learn how to code better and help others.
And because I have a lot of free time right now.
mostly polished, bug-reduced program.bug reduced, ahahaha, funny. :D
