Trying to compress tiny amounts of data often just leads to adding more data onto it. The packager has to add extra (uncompressed) information regardless, and compression is only intended for things that are actually big.

This is because that strings are contained in 16 bit integers, this is contained in a 32 integer DAT file and adds headers and such to each file
I tried to do a google search and there’s absolutely no trace of it online lol
