well, it blocks all other ways of favoring another project, so it's balanced. also, probably no way to safeguard from this unless there is a physical 3-vote limit.

We are almost at the halfway point. Haven't seen any contest projects announced yet, I'm hoping people are silently working on them and going to release at or near the end of the contest date.

Is there a limit on how dark a game can be? My game is going to ascii based, but the theme involves serial killing+selling organs. Too dark? Not trying to hype, just didn't want to upset anyone.

It's not up to us, it's up to SmileBoom. If it makes it past SmileBoom's screening and you think you can win with it, that's fine. Edit: Keep in mind though that SmileBoom repeatedly removed "Paint Lab" presumably because it used the "dat boi" meme, so they're pretty strict about stuff.

We still aren't entirely sure if SmileBoom decides or if they just blatantly follow any content reports they receive. Idk content regulation seems to be largely inconsistent

Yeah, they seem to be far more concerned with what can get them sued. You can get in trouble for allowing a server you control to distribute copyrighted content, but nobody will go after you for allowing your service to distribute a game about a serial killer. They only mention content and themes once (as far as I'm aware) in all their legalese, and it's in extremely vague terms. The bulk is pertaining to things that can get people into trouble.

I thought I've heard of something being taken down for excessively violence, but I have no evidence. Like snail said, though, it's more about Mboolemis trying to avoid getting into trouble.

Well, the former name of friendly pellet rain was bullet hell. After two days of being up with that name, the key was rejected. I think that if your game has an offensive word on the title or in code, then it may be rejected by smileboom.

We really need a thread (read: not this one) for documenting projects that have been rejected forcibly from the server. Otherwise, I'd argue that encryption may be an option for this case.

Can confirm. I believe my text adventure got taken down either for having swear words in it or "graphic" depictions of violence. Basically, offensive words. And now, even though I've made it PG friendly, it still gets taken down.
