Hey, maybe this is a reason to finish Home... That's industry enough, I suppose. And if it's not, what's the loss?

How do you guys decide the theme? Also, I think I have a good idea for this!

People are only complaining because this theme actually requires effort lol.
lol

Can't heckin wait to actually participate in this one! I'll start work ASAP

the TOP 5 Competition themes that are much worse
NUMBER 5"Giant Robot" Make anything you want, but somewhere it MUST have a giant robot or two.
NUMBER 4"Historically Accurate" Choose any real previous year, except 2016 and make something that is fun and historically correct.
NUMBER 3"Real World Application" Create a program that has some real benefit for all who use it.
NUMBER 2"Pixel Perfect" Design a swanky pixel based game with all custom art!
NUMBER 1"Single Screen" All submitted entries must have the entirety of it's code visible on a single screen.
So I hope that makes you feel better about how easy this theme is! EDIT: changed the numbers to correctly count down.

5 and 2-A are actually pretty GOOD ideas for future contests....

1: good 2: terrible 3: good four2?: OK 5: lol

ZZT clone might be okay... HOPEFULLY

not really.

You said anything building.

Seems fun! Too bad I don't have enough coding knowledge...

Does the game have to be about building or can it just have buiding somehwhere in it and not necessarily be about building?

Industry is "The production of goods and services." All you have to do is make a game about producing stuff; there's a lot of ways to go with that. It doesn't have to be "money and manufacturing;" agriculture is an industry, fishing is an industry, mining, jewelry, television, etc. And as Lumage said, you can stretch it if you think it'll work. You can even just make it "industry themed". As a real life example, many of the minigames in the Rhythm Heaven series are industrial themed, and I certainly wouldn't call any of those dull. Use your imagination!

Well in zzt you produce worlds...soooo I guess my game can work. I'm gonna work on it as much as I can.

I have this problem all the time, Dyslexic-ly swapping numbers. lol I didn't even notice. Makes it a real hassle when I do that with the X and Y cords on LOCATE. or other things. So yeah, that 1st "2" should be a 4.

I've never been a serious programmer, but I'll try my hardest to make the best program I possibly can!

Ooooh, a contest! Unfortunately I don't think I like the theme... maybe I'll come up with something anyways :P
SpoilerPossibly a claw-grabby stacking game thing?

@Lumage We should totally do an MML contest after this one! It could be our New Year Celebration/Contest! I think it would be fun :)

One problem with this is that cheating would be really easy given that there is a lot good sheet music out there. It'd be hard to tell if someone lifted something from another work. So what if there was a MML contest where people had to come up with a simple soundtrack for a theoretical game by using out of copyright music? Of course people would have to cite the music they used. BTW to admins: sorry about my tangent post.
