OMG This text block. Also, maybe Japanese people have a systematic way of coding, and know exactly what they're gonna code and what commands they need to do so, so they're games end of better.True story.Japan has had smilebasic much longer though.True story. But the best Japanese games beat the best American games. Why can Japanese people make so many awesome and cool games.... OMG This text block. Also, maybe Japanese people have a systematic way of coding, and know exactly what they're gonna code and what commands they need to do so, so they're games end of better.Or maybe the things you end up seeing have been filtered. These are the good ones. Many, if not almost all, have been made by adults. The same unproductive nagging younger community exists in Japan too, you just don't see it because you don't pay attention to Japan's communities. This stupid ethnicist crap is getting on my nerves.
I pay attention to the Japanese petitcom community... I see a lot of people making Mario Maker. I didn't know adults made it though....OMG This text block. While I agree ethnicity has nothing to do with this (those who say Japanese people automatically make great games are just joking), I do want to point out they have better resources.
Official Guidebooks are readily available at their bookstores, libraries, and convenience stores (7-11 etc).
We on the other hand only have online, mostly user-generated learning materials. To be honest, I think I will become a better SmileBasic programmer if I can get hold of those official guides and even just emulate their examples. I'm also a paperback person, which means I will choose paperback books over Kindle or PDFs any day.
I think it mostly boils down to there being more Japanese people who have SmileBASIC, and by extension, there are more very good Japanese SB game devs than there are very good American SB game devs. Take Petit Computer (DSiWare) for example - there were a whole bunch of Japanese games, some of which were really impressive, but not really much noteworthy coming out from elsewhere - there was a basic Flappy Bird clone, and there was the EPIC Mega Man 2 port, and maybe a handful of other noteworthy complete games, but many projects were either left incomplete (e.g. Pokemon gen 3 port) or just failed to grab attention.
Had there been more PTC owners worldwide, there almost surely would have been a few extra AWESOME game devs who'd make epic games.

I'm reading "Heavy Fog the Fourth"I removed Heavy Fog because it didn't make any sense. There's no fog anywhere.
more Japanese people who have SmileBASICThis. I don't remember where I put the statistics but Smilebasic is super tiny here and much larger in Japan. (And then the other sane factors people suggested) This was never the right thread for this though lol.
Pssh it's a game title you shouldn't care if it makes sense. Also see LohadL's comment.I'm reading "Heavy Fog the Fourth"I removed Heavy Fog because it didn't make any sense. There's no fog anywhere.
