You might want to clarify that this is a contest... it isn't explicitly stated until the end and I didn't realize it was until I read the first rule...
Gamejam SB thread
IAmRalseiCreated:
Edit:supossedly, the legend of zelda:majora's mask is not to be believed for simple things like time metrics. and i also increased the submission time to 1.5 days
72 hours, lots of games, one dialect of BASIC.
It's...
GAMEJAM SB! (and it's kind of like an unofficial contest)
Gamejam SB Q2 2018 starts on the 10th of june at 12PM CT, 2PM PT, and...do the math yourself or use google for other times. and ends on the 13th, At the same time of day. Voting begins on the 15th and ends at the beginning of july.
RULES:
1. You cannot submit an old program. All programs must be made in the three-day period.
2. You must submit your program inbetween the end of the creation period and the beginning of voting.
3. you must put effort in your game
That's all! have fun!
i shall notify you when the three-day period starts so watch this thread if you want to compete. i will say "About Midday of the first day, 72 hours remain" at the start, "About Midday of the second day, 48 hours remain" at the middle, "About Midday of the FINAL DAY, 24 HOURS REMAIN" on the last day and finally, "About the middle of a new day, Time to submit your programs!" at the end of the three-day period. This is obviously referencing The Legend Of Zelda:Majora's Mask.
three for-lack-of-a-better-term-random questions:
Q:Why does it say Q2 2018?
A:My plan is for there to be a GJSB every quarter of a year.
Q:Isn't this like an unofficial contest?
A:Ye.
Q:What's the theme?
A:That will be announced 2 days before the first day message.
You might want to clarify that this is a contest... it isn't explicitly stated until the end and I didn't realize it was until I read the first rule...Lol thanks for that; I often read the comments before the main post. Anyways what's the point of this contest and why would we have to wait a while for you to announce the theme? Waiting until you've come up with all the information then releasing it at once leaves a bigger impact, if any.
i've already come up with the theme, i just want to build suspense. although, i think i should have decided to share the theme 2 days before the three-day period i'll do that on the eighth (which is 2 days bdfore the three-day period) also, kites (always thought your name said kitties) i'll make that more obvious. You might want to clarify that this is a contest... it isn't explicitly stated until the end and I didn't realize it was until I read the first rule...Lol thanks for that; I often read the comments before the main post. This GJSB's theme is... Cats!Easy. Make a random "key pressed" thing which prints random text to a fake computer screen.
XD
The length of time from the start of the 10th and to the start of the 12th is 48 hours, or two days.
|24|24|
10 11 12
You said it ends on the 12th not at the end, or the 13th.

PLEASE STOP IGNORING IT'S EXISTENCE! You said between the start of the 10th and the start of the 12th. The only way it could start on the 10th, end on the 12th and be 48 hours long is if it started at the end of the 10th and ended at the start of the 12th. And even then, it wouldn't even be EXACTLY 48 hours.
This guy...
Firstly if you're counting days 10, 11, and 12 as one then what the heck?
Secondly I wasn't leaving out the 11th as without it only two days would be involved and the contest would last 24 hours if what you said before (about it ending on the 12th) still applied. Starting on the 10th and ending on the 12 means it starts at 12:00 am on the 10th and ends at 12:00 am yielding a total of 48 hours for contest time. If someone needs to look to google for help search "how English grammar and time work". Somehow you might actually find sonething I don't know then I'd have to google stuff. So if the contest lasts for three days it will start on the 10th and end on the 13th.
Btw is my reconfigurable computer emulator allowed? I can reprogram an emulator instance to display a cat or something like that.
This guy... Firstly if you're counting days 10, 11, and 12 as one then what the heck? -SNIP-i'm counting it as three. 24 hours is one day and i said 24+24+24, which is 72.

Is says 72 hours remain on the dawn of the first day in majora's mask, not 48 and there are three days. *in peach impression* oh, did i win? oh and that last thing, i forgot to put this in the rules but you need to put efrort into your game edit:i added it
Ugh how do I explain basic time logic and math to a [insert half-offensive descriptive here] in something it can understand? Can someone else please help me out here? I'm done with this stupid part.
And about your last thing. In case you didn't know it takes a lot to emulate a computer. Even in minecraft it took me about 3 days to build and debug a simple programmable 2 bit computer which could do things close to remotely useful. My next mc build will be 4 bits. Currently I'm working on a reconfigurable emulator which I'm about halfway done with. Its default configuration gives it 16 bits to work with and several instructions to work with. Currently the hardest part to program is the graphics processing code. I'm stuck on font processing. If I do finish this complex mess and at least a simple program which displays an ASCII-based cat face in the limited 3 days I have then that's my contest entry which I worked very hard on to make it do more than just display a simple little text cat. Not only do I have to figure out how the cat program will work I have to figure out how I'll load and execute the BIOS and how it'll load the mbr. So yeah this definitely has effort written all over it.

Eh... I didn't want to take a side here, but @spaceturtles is right.
@ToadIsTheBest, in your post that started this thread, you said exactly this:
Gamejam SB Q2 2018 starts on the 10th of june at 12PM CT, 2PM PT, and...do the math yourself or use google for other times. and ends on the 12th, At the same time of day. Voting begins on the 13th and ends at the beginning of july.If the period begins on the 10th at 12:00PM, the 10th will end 12 hours later (midnight). So that's 12 hours. Then, there's the whole 11th day, 24 more hours. (12+24=36). Finally, if it ends at the same time of day (12:00PM), the other half of the day is not part of your schedule. That gives you only 12 hours on the 12th day. 12+24+12=48. Edit: Ouch, you changed it while I was typing this!!
20 more hours before voting starts.
Now is a good time to announce bonus points.
One vote is +10 points for a program and bonus points are awarded in these categories:
First submitted program +15
Features Cats +25
Clearly just to get in the hall of participation -20
Did I mention the hall of participation yet? No? Well everyone who participates joins it.
Last minute Program -15
Program with the most points wins.
I would like to participate but I don't think I will make the deadline.... anyway, how would submissions work? Create the page and link it from this thread?
