Yes, the site was down for some time. No, we don't know what caused it, unless someone figures it out in chat forcing me to edit this post.
We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Oh, I have no idea what happened. Lumage doesn't either. I was at work the whole time, so I couldn't fix it.
If it happens again, I've instructed Lumage to perform some tests on the server. It should let us know a bit more about the problem.
You should set up a twitter for the site.
I feel kinda bad sending an email to an address I know is probably getting a ton of the same "sh*ts on fire, yo" messages.
Or did they? I'll never know. Either I'm a spammer or the only one who bothered to message.... hahaha
I didn't get too many messages. We'll see about the twitter account.
OK just found out the website was DOS'd again. I'm not sure who it was. If it happens again, I'll try to enable the security as fast as I can.
It shouldn't require too much work. One of your mods or Admin that's good with people should be able to handle it. It shouldn't require more than 2 tweets a month.
"We are currently working to restore service"
"Service has been restored."
Later on down the road, post the months top or top 3/5/10 new programs of the month, tweet out about the site every so often, "new Smilebasic tutorial makes it easier to learn than ever!" etc etc.
oooo no hagamos un twitter por favor
lol i could do it
it'd be totally painless. I could send out more than just "hey our site dead"
things like "hey new announcement thread"
it'd be way easy to do the "is it up". I could probably make a twitter bot do it
The site was down for quite some time, I wonder who did it, and why.
The people who do it want attention. Best not to give it to them. Tell people it was a weird glitch on the backend.
why is the delete button/query broken on FF? weird
Damn those random back end glitches. Someone forgot to carry the one.
