Build roads to connect randomly generated buildings. Use fewer roads to get a better score.

Instructions:

D-pad: Move cursor A: Build road B: Remove road X: Allow another building to be built (must build roads to all existing buildings first)

This is really fun, I wonder what the most efficient path would be? Doing a zigzag across the map is definitely the fastest way to win, but get a low score. My thoughts/requests/opinions:
  • Once you finish the game, allow the player to still modify the map, removing and changing roads to get the best score, once you press X its like "SURPRISE! You can no longer change the map, save your high score, game over." which isn't necessarily bad, but doesn't give me a chance to optimize my town.
  • Automatically detect when to build the next building, get rid of pressing X constantly, I don't know if this would make it better or not
  • Buildings bigger than a 1x1 space would add a new challenge
  • Allow for larger maps that go past the screen and allow player to scroll around
  • LEVELS with different obstacles and map shapes would be fun
  • Tiny car animations, or something to make the city seem more alive
This game is really entertaining though, I will definitely be keeping this in my files for when I get bored.

Nice use of built-in resources.

See if you can beat my high score of 75!

I agree.

So I found an interesting way to score 80 points. I'll post the screen shot when I get access to a computer later this weekend. (To post the picture from MiiVerse)

So I believe that you can attempt to get a score of around 90 points max, as the perfect game. The real problem is the difficulty replaying over and over again to get the perfect combination, because just one house spawns in the wrong place, that will remove the perfect score attempt.

SpoilerTo prevent scattered building placement fill all but a few spots on the map with road, and with a little luck of the draw, you'll be able to fill in most of the houses right where you want them to go before the last house spawns. When the last possible building is spawned in a place with no connection, delete the all but the critical roads. That will lower your score for the final spawn of buildings fill the rest of the Map. The problem is allowing enough "chaos" space to not force the game to fill in everything and force a negative score. As of now my highest score is 84 using this method.

I might make it so removing roads doesn't give you the full point value back, or something

This is a fun, unique puzzle game. Do you have any plans to update it in the future?
