Programs: source instead of / as well as public key.

Now that there is a convenient viable way to exchange programs without SmileBoom's restricted, single-point-of-failure, can-disappear-at-any-time-without-notice servers, I don't think I will ever use the public key system again (at least, not for my programs). Is there a place on this website for program source code that's not uploaded with a public key?

No, and unfortunately I'm wary of providing one until SmileBOOM turns off their servers. I don't want us to be targeted and then issued a C&D for providing a framework for circumventing their system. For now, you can post a regular page but put PETITMODEM as the public key. When the time comes, I can create a system for distributing files. Upload your files to Google Drive or some other reliable file hosting service and provide a download link on the page.

Just thinking, it would be nice if a central browsable hub for non-key smilebasic apps could be made and downloadable in app for sbfilemanager. Such a thing is already done for 3ds and Wii for general homebrew apps.

If you are providing them without the server, if possible you should still make a key at least temporarily just to not be a jerk. Not everyone is comfortable with homebrew.

ಠ_ಠ Can't tell if sarcasm or serious lol Anyway, it has little to do with their revenue and more to do with Nintendo's hold over them. I don't think that SmileBoom would care all that much (especially since they didn't want the servers in the first place), but considering how touchy Nintendo is about this stuff, I feel like SmileBoom would have to say something. It's not that distributing stuff outside the server is inherently bad, but you know that Nintendo would (correctly) see it as a means to circumvent the copyright protection. Edit: I keep saying SmileBOOM instead of SmileBoom >.<

I try very hard to say what I mean, and mean what I say. Sarcasm is the lowest form of humour, and often crosses into the territory of a straw man argument, which is a particularly nasty type of lie. I truly had forgotten that it was a revenue stream for SmileBoom. But your other point re copyright protection is, probably, the bigger concern.

I've been with the nintendo homebrew scene for about 5 years and I've never seen them go after anyone unless it's flagrant IP distribution (i.e. piracy, derivative works). Smealum has been hosting his ninjhax QR repo for about a year now and not a single blip from Nintendo. A third party like Smileboom is even far less likely to get involved. Given the non-commercial nature of this possible homebrew hub and lack of IP distribution, there really is no warrant or precedent for anybody to dispatch legal teams. Let's look at what's really happening here: sharing open source free homebrew and adding them to save games. That's it. Modifying save games IS NOT PIRACY. edit: concerning the Gold Member thing, I'll address that later. Got to go for a few hours. (preview - gimme a break)

That's true, but it's still concerning to me. I don't want to take a chance and possibly fragment the community if I have to shut down our website (although they'll probably just ask us not to allow the distribution anymore). Your files still exist on your system whether you make them public or not, so I'd like to wait until it's necessary before creating a SmileBoom server workaround.
