Drypt was an early prototype of a dungeon system. The plan was to develop a setting that could be used for testing various gameplay ideas, then build a game from the most interesting ones to enter into the Oogiri World Grand Prix. This version features a playable character made of butter, which has abilities including short-ranged teleportation and is capable of grabbing/throwing objects.
It soon became clear that a complex, winding labyrinth was better suited for slower, longer gameplay sessions - but not for the Grand Prix. A stronger entry would be a game that judges could digest in under a minute. The concept was then completely overhauled into a linear, fast-paced game to be played in short sprints. This of course led to Speedrungeon, which went on to win the gold prize.
Drypt is not a complete game. It is buggy. There is no goal, no winning or losing. There isn't even an adherence to Euclidean geometry. However you can explore the randomly-changing rooms, and see several early concepts and experiments that would be upgraded for use in Speedrungeon's official release.
