This is a clone of Konami's GYRUSS from 1983. Stages are built all the way to Earth (including "chance" stage). My goal was to learn SmileBasic while creating a fun game to play.

Instructions:

Control stick to move. [A] button to fire. On screen directions to insert coins and start the game. Lower screen has some functionality - including hidden credits.

Awesome

Wow -that was fast. Thanks Retrogamer123!

Oh, nice, although I never really liked the game it's based off of.

Thanks Lumage! I appreciate your feedback. It's hard to say what drew me to this game oh so many years ago. I was never good at it, but the music and pacing stuck with me over the years.

Easily one of the best SB games I have played. Feels complete, controls are tight, inventive use of the bottom screen, well done overall! Feels and sounds like an arcade shooter.

Really fun game. Quite difficult compared to your average vertical shooter of this type.

Wow, this is great! I especially like the coin door on the bottom screen, that was something I always wanted to do for Infinite Office (PTC). It would be cool if you could add an operator's menu or something too. The 3D effects are also really nice!

Very good, keep the good work :D

Thanks so much for the kind feedback Lonesque!

Thanks LacksAgency! I played around with difficulty "balance" for quite some time (there is an array of variables for each stage to play with... not sure I have it "perfect" yet.) In the original game in the arcade - the trick was memorizing the order of the waves and positioning your ship just right. (Darn - one more quarter please!) I also think the collision detection is a bit too loose. Cheap deaths stink. On my list to consider a more accurate set of collision algorithms.

Thanks mystman12! I had plans for an operator door (infinite lives, enhanced mode, etc) but decided to finally stop tweaking and get it "out there" to play test. Perhaps in the next release!

Bug: After playing the credits redirects you to the name enter screen (the one when your score is big enough). Other than that, this game seems neat!

Thanks Perska I THOUGHT I had fixed that one ARGH! I appreciate the play testing! Will hunt it down and kill the bug....

Thanks RaichuBender. Looks like it was rejected sadly... will remove the key now.

That sucks, sorry to hear it. Really poor decision by SmileBoom in my opinion. Creating a knockoff isn't copyright infringement. Unless you've specifically ripped assets from the original game.

Note to self. Do not delete CYCLONE Would creating new assets for the game get it back up?

Petitioning it as not infringing on anyone's rights and finding that KONAMI does not have sole claim to the barrel-shooter genre would get it back up. The assets are (as far as I can tell) original.
