Hi it's... me? Long story short: we are attempting to (slowly) transition to a new website which we are making from scratch (just like good ol' SmileBASIC Source). It's: https://new.smilebasicsource.com/, and it focuses on SB4 (Switch). This transition will be slow, and when the new website has all the features we need, we hope to retire this old website. Before then, we will most likely set up some kind of migration so you can move your stuff over. So for now, please try to post NEW content on https://new.smilebasicsource.com/, while all your old content will still be available here on old sbs. Edit: Some confusion about whether to copy stuff over: you CAN if you like! We're hoping to eventually add some kind of easy-migration thing, but even so it will be up to the owners and per-page so... up to you if you want to wait! Several users pointed out (truthfully) that this was not communicated well and the transition is unsmooth. I want to apologize right now before any explanation. I take full responsibility for any confusion, anxiety, and general bumpiness surrounding this transition. I had ample opportunity to create a new website and never did. It is entirely my fault, and I will listen to complaints whenever you like. Now, more info for those who are interested: This website, the one you're on now, was a group effort, a collaboration with a lot of work put into it. We made it for SmileBASIC 3 (for the 3ds). It was neat because we had a place we could call our own, and making your own website when there are obviously better alternatives really fits the kind of community that uses apps like SmileBASIC. Plus we were fleeing from Wikia which was an awful place that only got worse and worse. This was also my first website and it shows. It is nearly impossible to improve or redesign or do anything that people have wanted for many years during the SB3 days, and which is even more pertinent for SB4. Everything is heavily dependent on each other, and I have frequently made small changes here and broken things over there. It's bad, and I want the community to have something nice. I've worked off and on with ideas and implementation for a new website for a few years now. I never made anything. I knew SmileBASIC 4 was going to EVENTUALLY come out but I never just pushed and got it done. It is because of my laziness that this transition has not been smooth. Y, a user you will probably hear from on this thread, came to me less than a month ago with information that SB4 would be releasing on the 23rd in North America. She told me as soon as she knew, and expressed concerns that the current website would not handle this well for various reasons. I agreed and got to work on a new website. It was really about three weeks... that is not enough time to write a fully custom website from scratch front to back and then have time to test it all. I enlisted the help of MasterR3C0RD to make a front end while I worked on the backend. This is how the new website was made and is being made. So, that's about it. We had only a few weeks to get a new website out and we did not have time to implement most of the features nor to test it well, so the new website is having a rough time and we're doing all we can to fix the major bugs and add the obviously missing features. But it functions and you can post programs and soon you will be able to chat there too. We really hope to do everything we can to get necessary features implemented in a timely fashion. Thank you for sticking it out with us for so long, and I hope to see you on the new website.

Thank you so much for working so hard! I don't know what I would've done to learn programming stuff without the SBS community!

Oh shoot Ralsei, no no don't delete pages you've already migrated! Migration will be manual, you're good! I'm going to undelete it if you don't mind

But... For some reasons, coding on the 3ds is interesting (for the gyro sensor or the 3d screen). So, can we post sb3 games and apps on the new website?

Yes.

It's me, Y. Some of you know me because we get along, and some of you know me because we don't get along. Even if you don't know me, I probably know you (though the details might be hazy). I've been doing day-to-day moderation in this community for my entire life, probably. (lie) Random already mentioned how this site came to be, recognizing that the format of Wikia didn't meet our needs as a community. This website did address a lot of those needs, but it couldn't exactly adapt as people came and left and changed. For a couple of years now, we've been envisioning a system that makes help and programs easier to find, and handles the subcommunities that have developed here over four and a half years, and overall make the website more comfortable to use for everyone. I think SmileBoom is doing their best to try to address the overseas community this time around, but obviously their localization efforts are still not perfect, so I want to support SmileBASIC as it makes its own transition to English-speaking markets. I can't promise anything, but if there's any feedback you have about SmileBASIC 4, I can try to help you pass it along to the developers. I really do love the SmileBASIC community, and the people I've met here mean a lot to me. I'll continue to work from the shadows to ensure everything is running as smoothly as possible, and even if the transition with the websites is rough, I hope everyone can enjoy SmileBASIC 4, and I hope that the community continues to grow and produce many amazing works.

I previously made a comment on the new website suggesting that SmileBASIC 3 programs should not be posted there: this information was outdated, and I apologize for the confusion. As random said, go ahead and post new programs there, and we'll figure out a mass migration plan in the future.

oh i actually don't mind, feel free to do so

I undeleted it, sorry for the confusion!

Yeah, I feel so too EDIT: So, do we just repost everything now on SBS v2?

It is advised to not repost EVERYTHING on SBS 2:The Adventure of Link, however, it is fine if you repost the programs you are the most proud of on SBS 2:Gold and Silver.

For the sake of my own sanity (and memories of when Razer bought OUYA, and I had 48 games to go through and move from one thing to the other, fixing them up because they broke something, but then in the end they fixed the issue that my stuff had been having, and all my work was for nothing and I got very very very angry...) I'm going to hold off posting anything until you've got everything to a more stable position. I wish you the best of luck, and hope the transition period is as stress free as it can be. You've got this!!

You guys are hard at work. Don't stress too much about it. Hiccups are to be expected, even at the most professional of organizations.

I personally didn't have any problems with the transition, so for me you guys did a good job.

I've been a casual user of SBS for a few years now and stop beating at yourself, I haven't noticed any problems with this site, I think it's a great site lol. That said, great to see the almost hear-say new site coming to fruition. (Should I have not made a new account? Could I have signed in with my old?)

Could I have signed in with my old?
No, I couldn't login before creating the new account

One request whilst you're in the early-ish stages of the new site.. Can we have a switch to turn off Edit notifications??! ;)

That should be easy to do, if you've made an account on the new website you can post the request in the comments on https://new.smilebasicsource.com/pages/36 so we'll remember lol

Can somebody make it work on New 3DS Family systems?

Can somebody make it work on New 3DS Family systems?
Do you realize how much work they've put into the new site? It would be a huge pain to completely rewrite parts of the site just so that it works on a dated (and rather broken) 3DS browser. Maybe they'll release a High Compat mode for the new site someday. In the meantime, calm down. The new site itself isn't even finished, let alone a 3DS-compatible mode.
