Good question - It has elements from a lot of different genres, but I don't think there's anything out there quite like it. Honestly Impostor's got the right idea... it's much easier to show than tell.

Wait, Wumpus?

Among Us but objects and people in towns are crewmates and imposters and you have majority vote.

basically, it's a text-based roguelike puzzle game where there is a grid of towns you can visit, each with a person and an object within. now, one of these people or objects is actually a bear, and you don't know which, and if you accidentally talk to or check the bear, you lose. talking to people allows you to get clues on where the bear is and what it's disguised as (most of the time anyway) and searching objects allows you to find items to help finding, trapping and killing the bear. you win if the bear is either trapped or killed.

It's an unlockable minigame! You can get it after playing enough games in Super Bearland. For Super Bearland II it will appear in the in-game store. You can buy it with Bearer Bonds, which you earn by playing any mode.

Thatโ€™s pretty accurate! Edit: except the fact that the bear land one looks like a mutated beast

Pretty much - based mine more off the TI-99/4A version. It was a bit less cute, a bit more... "monster who hangs out in caves all day".

  • Hey! I've been playing your games for a few weeks now and I'm hooked! This is really a comment on all of your games that I've played so far, but I decided to put it on Super Bearland II because its probably my favorite. I love the amount of polish and detail you put into your games, its far more than I ever would expected from freeware on a small niche programing application. You deserve waaayy more recognition for what you've been able to accomplish with this platform. I also appreciate all the Game Grumps and Oneyplays references you put in your games (scream button in Speedrungeon?). Honestly, your games are better than most games I actually pay for! (double honestly, I'd pay for yours...) Thanks!

Yep, kantackistan is probably the best at polishing games out of all of us

Many thanks, both of you! Very glad to hear you're enjoying the games Is the scream button a reference? It wasn't intended to be, I think it was more inspired by useless crouches. But yes, the Newgrounds people are an excellent source for nonsense words that sound like locations.

I don't know if this a glitch or not, but after I imported my save data from 3DS, out of nowhere, with each town that I visit within the game, the color pallete will change out of nowhere...

Yep that's normal. Unlocks when you have enough palettes. You can turn it back off at the very bottom of the Graphics settings page.

Oh, okay. I thought I was going crazy for a second. But when I made that post, I didn't even unlock that option yet, and I couldn't disable it. But with a fresh save, it more or less fixed itself. Haha. (Anyways, would it be okay if I were to try and make a port of this game to other platforms, such as the NES and Commander X16 for example?)

If it's all the same to you, I'd rather keep the series to myself. It's very much my baby, and I have impossibly high standards for it. (Which is a good thing when I'm in charge, but makes me an insufferable client for outsourced projects.)

Fair enough. Just figured we'd at least ask before we started going full swing with coding and everything. The only thing we ended up doing was just a few pieces of concept art, and a somewhat faithful recreation of the menu theme that's 100% within the limitations of the Ricoh 2A03 sound chip. We don't know if there's a way to just attach videos on this site, so we'll just say to look on our Twitter page for the video containing the fanart and menu recreation all in one. Thanks again for the amazing projects! We can't wait for the next project!

Thanks for understanding. You're not the first to ask about a port, but whenever I accept they always give up after they realize how huge the game actually is. (Plus I'm extremely picky on details and features, which can't be fun to work for - but those details and features are what make it Super Bearland.) Maybe someday I'll come around to the idea, but currently I feel there'd be too many compromises. Definitely feel free to post your video though, so everyone can see it.

I posted it on Twitter already, and the only thing that the video includes is just concept art for the fictional box art, and the Ricoh 2A03 sound chip adaptation of the original theme from Super Bearland for 3DS. https://twitter.com/GrievedInferno/status/1671011942415101953 -Axen
