Scrolling Vertical background

I'm having troubles with scrolling backgrounds. All I need is a vertical scrolling grassy field which fills the screen.anyone have any idea. I've coded in about 10 different tries and I'm getting a black screen no errors. I thought it might be a layer issue since I wanted the background on 0 layer so I could put some sprites sticking up out of the background which would also scroll along with the background. Any help would be appreciated

Hey I may help with this, one quick question, do you want a BG scroll that runs on its own or goes when the player moves?

Thanks I will look at it. I took a break from smilebasic I was getting mad so I took a break. I want to be able to program a game so bad. I'm going to to try something text very soon.
