How to make a map without having too much code

I’m busy making an RPG and I’m having trouble with a map that won’t let my sprite walk through trees and stuff. I also want to know if anyone knows how to make a screen shift from cell to cell like an old legend of Zelda game. Help will be greatly appreciated, thanks.
