Look, I just think, that if you guys have what it takes to pull this off, you could do something else much better. Barely anyone is going to want to use this, it just seems overly complicated, cumbersome, and will serve no real purpose. Microtransactions of any kind don't belong in SB. There are far greater things you guys could be working on, don't waste your time with some complicated digital currency that might get used by 5 or 6 people.

Perhaps you should make the code a 5 digit alphanumeric serial number (are 60466176 combos enough?) and have it shipped along with a number (00000000-60466176), and have the number and serial # privately hosted and then transact by seeing if the sent num and serial match, then randomize the shadowcoin serial again, and send it to the other wallet. 3DS shadowcoin data transferred to website and submitted, server checks shadowcoin credibility, randomize shadowcoin data, and sends it to receiver. If the serial # and # don't match 3 times, then blocked for a day.
That's a pretty good idea! It's simple, yet, effective! Of course, for our own purposes, it'd be encrypted client-side with a secret key only known by the server, but who know? Maybe keys themselves will be in our compressed MVC format because of this. We'd need a special system for making sure they're valid though. Do you think you could help?
The only problem is getting the shadowcoins from a game... That's a biggie. I was tired when making the theory. I would love to help, and will sponsor it in some games later. (NerdOS, the leading gaming/artistic OS is coming soon to SB) Do you generate the coins ingame, or..?

I agree with you on this. I don't mean any disrespect to those of y'all that are working on this, but I don't really see ShadowCoins as a viable concept. All of the programs on this site aren't locked. Anyone with some skill and patience can alter a SB program in any way they see fit.

Change it into Failcoins and give them to everyone who comes up with an useless idea.

That's not very constructive.T.T

I had a long, hard chat with ShadowCX and ShadowFury over in the chat today. Here are most of my findings: 1. They are not 100% coordinated on the concept of ShadowCoin, the goals and the idea. I've suggested ways they can make this clearer, both among themselves and for us. When the conversation finished it seemed like they were going to do that - will wait to see some results. Namely, they need to make a list of ShadowCoin commands that the library will have for developers to use (similar to the one I made for SmileBASIC Platforming Engine in Google Docs here) 2. All they currently have working so far is encryption, and even that is not yet fully functional in SmileBASIC. They have it working in JavaScript though. 3. When I asked about specific ways that users would be able to give themselves however many coins they wanted, they couldn't tell me ways this can be prevented. They basically said that anyone who does this would "just be ruining it for themselves" and would be banned from their servers so they won't be able to make coin transactions with other people. 4. Fury initially said that SC is intended to be a bit like Play Coins, in the sense that there's only one way to earn them but many ways to spend them. (although that might have been a bit of a misunderstanding) Later, he and CX established the opposite - games CAN reward players with coins. 5. Games using ShadowCoins will have to go through an approval process, which might take several days. 6. Players who want to use ShadowCoins have to go online once a day and copy some keys around between the browser and the 3DS, since it's supposed to be through the internet. Fury/CX, if I got any part of this wrong (besides the first half of #4) then, my apologies.

I just want to say, encryption is done now, approval would only take a few days (not several), you will be unable to counterfeit coins because we'll use an online database, and the doc will be finished sometime tomorrow. Also, you won't NEED to go online, only if you're, say, exchanging coins for freenium stuff.

Good to hear!

But I can counterfeit coins for me to use in any SC application, can't I? i.e. generate illegitimate coins, then immediately spend them on a real game without going online in between.

Oh. Well, I guess we will need to use online.

That is a major inconvenience that I can't imagine users jumping through hoops for.

SO what exactly will this benift the people that post their works on your thing shadow?

In what way are you comparing it?

I suppose that a player can earn money in one game, then transfer it to another game.

This has to be one of the most visited and controversial threads on this whole site.

Yes :)

Yes, please explain.

Well, a whole network on SmileBASIC, Online on the official website (being built right now), through programs and games on SB that use the system and arguably the greatest, online sites that link your ShadowCoins account. So basically you're connected to a vast network, as said in the beginning^.

That's why I watched it. I'll just put my two cents in: needing to connect to a site to use shadowcoins seems rather time-consuming.

You're right. But site partnering won't take two seconds :)

What do you mean? Where in my post did I talk about site partnering?

I'm actually looking forward to this. This might be fun to implement into my games I might make later on.

In order to connect to a site then it will have to partner. :)

This would actually be a cool thing that you're thinking of. Maybe you have a game like PETITFOREST (anyone remember that? :D) and then you make another game... better yet a sequel, which you can transfer your currency to your wallet and then have it on that game, as in the currency is ShadowCoins!
