Mine your way through the cave, but be careful with the water floods! This game is my first actual project for SmileBASIC, It still needs a ton of improvement but i think it's good enough. I hope you like it! Changes in version 2:
  • GRAPHICS! Now there's actual textures in there
  • Slight performance improvement

Instructions:

Move with the D-pad (going forwards/backwards and turning) and L/R (strafing) Run with B Mine with D-Pad + A (Minerals will give you 10 points) Place barricades with X (Use this to block water floods) Place and detonate TNT with Y (kinda buggy at the moment)

finily

i get 50 fps...

It probably runs better on N3DS

WHAT? o.o It always runs at 10 on my O3DS, i knew that the N3DS was faster but, damn

Hey, looks good! I wish I could play this... My 3DS is dead.

When I first saw this page's name I was 100% sure it was a game about Grand Dad

The name was a joke in reference to that because i lack originality (I'll most likely add a Grand Dad easter egg or something in some future version)

The raycaster engine would be faster, I think. (though it might not look as good)

I can make it look better and run much better by using sprites, but im still investigating how could i make that work. There's another raycaster on smilebasic that runs amazingly fast, it's called Spooky Maze

Yes, that uses the raycaster engine that I was talking about.

Wow its actually textured! Very nice! Still quite buggy though The water has strange behavior, it moves when you look at it, so eventually you learn, right when you see water, turn around and walk backwards, if only that applied to real life situations as well, hehe

Ye, the water works like that to save resources, since the water update function is called only when the water is on screen, i dont have to check every instance of water (or just close water) to call it, i might improve that whenever the performance is increased. I have a lot of cleaning up to do on the code, next version might amd those fps up. I'm really glad that you like it anyways :3

Great story bro! Update the blog!

It's definitly impressive as a first project but it definitly needs alot of work. I like the way the raycasting is used though. I can always keep the game running at 30-40 FPS even in long halls but when I'm standing in one place looking at a wall, the game stays at 59 FPS :) Good job.
