Also why would we kill this thread over a joke about vodka when there's been several posts that are just pictures of anime girls with no explained relevance? Posted

Generally it depends on how many people get derailed by it. like this. Or if it's actually hurtful. Now we just have to run contests every two weeks to get a steady flow of submissions.

You may have missed the heavy sarcasm. Please take some for your pancakes. I'm open to other ways to encourage high quality (NOT High Quality) submissions, though.

    400x240 is not high quality.

It'll be a pain if more than two people work on the program.

Well, look at SmileBASIC Source Chat Simulator. People worked on it turn after turn and... well, it didn't become a good submission but yeah you get the point :P Back on the topic, I'm the one who voted for UAG Drumpf. A challenging game with cool visuals!

Glad you liked it. On a side note, a collaborative project would be great, but I think that coding practices would have to be standardized before any work could be started. I've noticed that not everyone codes the same way here. A while back I floated the idea of a community project. At the time I thought a Mario Party-esque game would have been good. Given that most of us only have one 3DS system I think it might be better to make a Warioware kind of community project. This genre would allow for more originality (hint, hint). Plus, it takes less effort and time to make mini-games as opposed to a full fledged title. I don’t want to clog this thread up, so I’m going to make a thread about this in case anyone is interested. BTW: forgive any typos...I'm using my phone. :/

  • #153 ✎ 884 Y_ack Head Admin I have bad memories of when I forced a collaboration contest back on the PTC Wiki. SB really isn't suited for it, and I'm still looking for that patch and diff utility I know I saw. It's too bad. Honestly, I thought people would go a different direction with the theme. I tried to suggest it with "meaningful use of color," but a lot of the entries ended up being "emphasis on colors." I don't think it was restrictive, I think people got confused, and I have some ideas I'm willing to try to prevent this for next time. Posted

Actually I don't think more than one person worked on the same code; the only thing I reused was some of the avatar sprites.
    400x240 is not high quality.
How about 320*480? Anyway... What if we did a challenge where you had to make a "tool" program, since I often see people entering those in challenges, but they never get any votes. However, I feel like we already have way too many of those, so maybe that's not the best idea. I also think a OSP/QSP challenge would be nice, but I'm sure other people wouldn't agree...

I agree. But I think it was more about the lack of ideas, maybe...

I want to do both of these, maybe as mini-contests, but they don't make sense for our FIRST EVER one.

Someone that is an expert programmer would end up making an epic game that takes all the attention away from the other games.

Well I mean, that's what would happen anyway...
