RPG Maker Fes Sharing Thread

Should we tell him that you can only create and upload 1 rpg unless you pay at LEAST a dollar for more slots?
Yeah, good idea to tell me. I was not super excited, given how the past two PS2 RPG Makers were. Plus I have the vastly superior RPG Maker VX Ace, and have barely touched it. (it was from a super cheap humble bundle)
Hehehe same and same. Except I'm actually dumb enough to buy this.

I've actually never played the computer versions of RPG Maker, and have generally enjoyed playing the three games for PS1/2. Each has there own strengths and weaknesses, and I expected this one to be the same. My immediate impression based on what I've heard (the 27th can't come soon enough!), portability is good, size restrictions could be a hassle, but I've already learned to deal with that in RPG Maker 3.

I feel that RPG Maker FES complements SmileBASIC perfectly, in that they're both tools people use to create the games of their dreams! RPG Maker FES is also great in that you don't have to download the full game to play peoples games! Just download the 3DS App "RPG Maker Player" off the Eshop, and enjoy!
To sum up everything that was mentioned on this thread, SmileBASIC: +Okay amount of assets, game lets you edit pretty much anything +Price: 10 dollars USD +Lets you upload up to 10 programs for free, paid subscription lets you upload even more RPG Maker Fes: -Very few assets, no sprite editor or sound editor whatsoever -Price: 40 dollars USD (not including all the DLC you'll need to buy) -Lets you upload only one RPG for free I wouldn't say RPG Maker Fes complements SmileBASIC. Maybe if RPG Maker Fes were made by SmileBOOM I would've agreed.

I said that when there was a lot less information known about it I suppose, but yeah I was wrong sorry. I still think it's good though, at least if you're fine with the assets they give you.

I definitely agree with you there. It's just too much more money needed to be spent to be worth bothering with, while SmileBASIC is super cheap and has many more upper sides to it.

Sam, you're wrong. It definitely complements SB and creating games. All your other points are just you not happy with the title. Elzo's point is still valid. It still allows you to create the game (story) of your dreams.

I think a big problem is: 1: most programmers aren't good at game design 2: most people who can think of a good story aren't good enough at programming to make a game based on it 3: we suck at working together. Rpg maker whatever sort of solves this, but of course they think they can get away with not adding a lot of features just because of name recognition (which is true, I guess, but it's still bad). If someone really cared, they could probably make something better in SB, but really I doubt it.

At one time I even offered to pay for someone to create an engine to do just this, met by a resounding "meh."

Well, making a map engine isn't too difficult. I even made one for my game "Factory RPG" and then used the same code for a top down action rpg that I'm develop. However, I think that the feature of making scripted events would be difficult to implement because there are many use case. Anyway, I feel that even if someone manage to make a RPG Maker on smilebasic, few people will found that it exist. There are a lot of good programs, libraries and tools but few people use them(Lowerdash, Hero adventure edit+, TH Grp Editor, JINTRI, etc...). This is based on the posts that I see on this site and Miiverse. PS: Someone is porting Wario Ware DIY. https://miiverse.nintendo.net/users/meidoin21. Based on their pics, it seems that he made the screen where you can make scripted events but I don't know if he will publish a key.
