http://chat-r.cf/ maybe we could use this to chat
I'd have no problem with that, being the owner.
It's not sending me the verification email when I make an account. Does it take time? And also, I thought I already made an account? whatever

Check spam. That's usually where the email ends up

More stuff for people to learn more about ArcPh1r3 the Ass pastebin.com/CuDPKqx5

It's been said many times, but I feel it should come from me as well. CJ, you shouldn't feel bad. This wasn't your fault at all. This can happen to anyone. (You know about what happened last...multiple...times...) What you did was at the time was the best "quick and dirty" solution. It may not have solved the issue but it at least prevented it from becoming worse. Acting like this is human, we're emotionally frail. Even if it was out of impulse, it was possibly the best you can do. You're actually one of the more stable users in the (old) community compared to the rest of us. All this backlash is pretty undeserving. I really hope you feel better. That's all I can think of to at least cheer you a bit.

This is the best thing to do in this situation probably. The issue was a one-time thing, and killing the chat has worked best in the PTC Wiki, so why not here? Speaking of, we could just go to the PTC wiki chat since it's already established and it works.

It's disabled there too.

Oh dandy, that's wonderful. Where to now?

Steam...Hangouts...Skype.........IRC.

Alright, while we're here, we need to decide on a central place for us to chat that is already established. I'm voting on that wikia chatroom there. We all have wikia accounts for the most part and we're used to it, so why not? If a better alternative ever springs up we can move, and hopefully someday we can reopen the chat here. Also, arc only gets 28 days? Hit that fucker with the red-hot "Ban Forever" spear. He's basically an identity thief now. EDIT: Sparky too. I almost forgot about him.

We've already got #smilebasic on Freenode as far as IRC is concerned.

You mean that bad meme wiki that sparky(the real causer of the incedent) made? Edit: He may have actually not made that

http://chat-r.cf/ oh right this place

Not finished or stable enough to be sustainable. We should only consider fully-functioning alternatives for the time being.

Oi, random. Just because you masterminded this site's excellent style and function doesn't mean you have to force yourself to be community manager of the whole thing. Seriously, if you can't take the heat, and it's completely reasonable if you don't want to, then don't. Find some people here you think you can trust, give them CEO-level management and power, and just step to the side and take care of CTO forum software stuff. I sure between you and whoever you pick to manage you can sort out hosting and dns issues. I was one of the people who emailed you, and I'm mostly a lurker here, but this community was important enough for me to step in and do what it takes to keep it around. I say let's work together so you don't have to bear the brunt of people's nastiness. EDIT: And just to clarify, this site needs an official chat location., preferably on IRC. The irc moderation staff ideally should be a separate group from the forum moderation staff with the exception of one or two top admins. #smilebasic on irc.freenode.net seems like an excellent place to start.

Actually, the freenode IRC channel sounds like a good idea. There's some other preestablished users on there so it might be a good way to mingle with some new friends.

Thank you everyone for you consolation and well-wishes. I read every message; you're all so nice. Really quick, I'd like to go over why I didn't ban ArcPh1r3 outright when this was happening. Because he had basically stolen this other user's email account by changing the password and not telling him the new one, if I had banned ArcPh1r3 from the chat immediately, he wouldn't have been able to give him back the password. He may have been able to use other means to return the stolen account, but I doubted that banning him would make him see sense. This was an unfortunate, hopefully unique event that I sincerely hope will not happen again. OK so about our chat. There's nothing I can do about extreme trolling beyond just continuous banning of any alts that are created in the process. Someone suggested a disclaimer before entering the chat; I don't think it'll help since it'll mostly be common sense, but we can try it if you think it'll be good. In the disclaimer, we can state something like "enter the chat at your own risk; the chat is mostly self-moderated, but the admins have the authority to ban you for extreme behavior". I agree with NeatNit: self-moderated is probably the best, as it teaches everyone involved how to deal with trolls. However, for extreme cases, I still think moderation is necessary. Are there any ideas beyond a disclaimer you think would work, or do you agree with a disclaimer?

Darn it, I'm already set up on QuakeNet... *sigh*

oi, you didn't bring us down on irc, so don't apologize for that. we enjoyed your company and we've got a great deal of respect for what you do. hope you stick around longer next time and good luck with the site!

Disclaimer's a good idea. Again, there's only 2 mods that are usually active (you and Lumage) and I think there should be more mods to keep the chat moderated at most times
