There is lol

Honestly, and this is just my two cents, but I just don't think we should have a chat. At all. I never use it, of course, so maybe I shouldn't be talking, but I just feel like opening the chat up again is just going to cause huge problems again and the website will be taken down again and everybody will freak out again and something somethin' again... I'm fine with giving the chat another chance, but if push comes to shove, close the chat, but please do not close the rest of the website, since, as far as I can tell, is well under control!

Well, from what I've gathered, all chat problems have just been the result of the actions of three people, and the one who's done the worst seems to have just gone away again, so I'd say all current issues are solved (almost, no idea about long term damage). Also the SmileBASIC tab is too convenient not to have when you're trying to do programming. Live help is great.

I never used the chat. In fact I hate all this hand holding and everyone will get tired of explaining the same thing over and over every time a newbie asks for help, anyway.

I don't think you understand the purpose of a community.

Isn't this what teachers do every day?

It's a community, not a kindergarten. No one here is getting paid to spoon feed you. If you have a doubt, search the forums and if you can't figure it out then you can create a thread asking about or requesting a tutorial.

Have you perhaps considered that monetary incentive is not a prerequisite for helping someone?

What's wrong with the chat? Someone's feelings got hurt? Come on that shit will happen anywhere

Someone's feelings got hurt?
More like dozens of a user's accounts across multiple sites were hijacked and abused. We don't care that this happened to one person, we care that there are people in our community who have no restraint and will use our chat to do this.

More kinds of discussions go on in there than "help i do not know how to program". Users like myself use the SmileBASIC tab to talk ANYTHING SmileBASIC related. If anyone has a problem with the chat, they don't have to use it. EDIT: And to be fair, most stupid questions that get by me are answered with "read the manual".

The forums are a great way to help and build a public knowledge base. Live help is a luxury.
