Need some help with the SmileBASIC Wikipedia page!

  • #1 ✎ 192 TheV360 Third Year My account is over 3 years old Website First Day Joined on the very first day of SmileBASIC Source Website Night Person I like the quiet night and sleep late. Express Yourself SmileBASIC is important enough that it deserves a good Wikipedia page. I need help writing one. I have a lot of the summary and syntax done, but I need some help with the history and other things. You can edit it here! As you can see, it's a draft. This is so that we can iron out all the mistakes now, before submitting it to get approval. Posted

Express Yourself https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petit_Computer The language itself has always been called "SmileBASIC", so it might be better to rename that article (and have "Petit Computer" redirect to "SmileBASIC") Posted Edited by 12Me21

Programming Strength At some point, some information on SmileBASIC was added to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petit_Computer#Sequel However, it was taken over by biased homebrew groups to talk about the DHLPTX exploit. Thus some thoughts: - Keep in mind that SmileBASIC refers to both the software and the language. This may have implications for the content of such an article (or at least the title). - Reference the Japanese Page - Do not discuss the exploit in any level of detail, following the example of articles for other platforms that have been exploited. I recall that either the Playstation Portable or Ocarina of Time 3D had perhaps a few short lines devoted to exploitation, and this in a much larger page. - Related to "software vs. language," what history do you want to include? The software publication/platform history, or language update history? How do you (or do you) address differences (esp. date) between Japan, U.S., and World releases? Note that some language articles on old classic languages do include detailed language history (e.g. Fortran), but most list only dates and perhaps links to release documents at best. - The PTC Wikia's page on SmileBASIC (puchikon 3) probably still exists and contains detailed and date-stamped (but highly subjective and some hypothetical) lists of information released before actual availability of the software. This may be worth working with, if only to get it off of the horrifying garbage pile that is Fandom Powered by WIkia. Posted
