Would duplicating some of my old tiles by hand be considered wrong? As long as I do it by myself in the contest period it should apply. There are some I previously made I would like to use but if re-making them would be seen as cheating I won't. What do y'all think? Able to use old tiles if made by hand during contest or must be new tiles?

An interesting contest. But iโ€™m currently working on a project that has been eating up a lot of my time. So iโ€™ll wait for the next contest to post my enty.

For a contest your entry has to have been completely (except libraries and stuff) made in the contest duration. (if you entered)

I changed from a zombie apocalypse to a terraria-like game, for fun. EDIT: But I'll still finish the zombie apocalypse game eventually.

what about SP's

I made a concept before the contest, but never programmed it. Can I use it in the contest?

yes

To everyone saying "I'll retype my code by hand, not copy and paste," and "I'll redraw my assets by hand, not copy and paste," no one's going to supervise you, so...

Simply reprogramming a game does not constitute all of the design and decision-making process done before a game is even programmed, so this does not constitute "work being done during the contest." Please make entirely new projects. EDIT: This is an opinion but at least consider it

I agree.

When I first read the name of the programming contest, I thought "Spooky scary skeletons." Anyway, here is what my world generator can do in half a minute: Every pixel is 5 blocks x 5 blocks. This is a 2000x500 block world, half of it is cut off at the bottom of the screen. This is an xl world, which I'm making n3DS exclusive, as I don't know how a normal 3DS would handle it. Normal worlds are half the size and normal 3DS's can play in it. I will increase normal world size by 500 blocks now. EDIT: I increased the normal world size to 1500 blocks x 500 blocks. I don't know how it will work on o3DS, but here is the screen shot: Notice how normal world size is 3/4 of xl worlds. That's not that much! BTW all of the worlds will be 500 blocks high. EDIT2: And then they planted trees... Now my world generator is complete with trees, too! EDIT3: I forgot about water/lava. I just added them and now it's complete. Screen shot:

Better get your votes in! I'm almost done with the world generator, and when I'm done with that I'll start with the title menu and move to the actual game to add these features!

Can you please not talk about your game here and only post a complete product once you're ready? I follow this thread to see what contest entries are and only find polls about "hey guys, what should i do for my contest entry".
Ok. Sorry!

Results are in. Results:
  • There will be the following menus in inventory: Crafting menu, stat menu, equipment menu, and quest log.
  • There will an amount of spaces in inventory depending on mode. On easy, there will be 75 spaces. On medium, there will be 60. On hard, there will be 50.

So this contest is specifically spooky scary themed and NOT Halloween themed at all?

Tie the Halloween in with the spook if ya want

well, I did make an object library prior to the submission period, but I never released it.

So this contest is specifically spooky scary themed and NOT Halloween themed at all?
You don't HAVE to follow the theme.
It doesnโ€™t matter if you make a Halloween themed game, the theme is just for inspiration.
