Games/Game developers that inspire you

Root / General / [.]

MorganCreated:
What game devs or games in general inspire you to want to create games on SB (Or other platforms)? Or even that inspires you in general outside of video games. For me personally I'm greatly inspired by Edmund mcmillen and Yacht club games, and the games both companies have made. (The binding of isaac: rebirth, and Shovel knight) along with Team Salvato, (Doki Doki Literature club) and Portable Moose (Sally Face) since they gave me hope that even with little programming knowledge you can make something great. (As corny as that sounds)

Maybe not influencing me to make games, but Squaresoft had challenged the way I thought about creativity, character development and importance of story when I was younger. In particular, the early Final Fantasy games inspired me to pursue many creative outlets like illustration and writing. My current project may take a little inspiration from them

my inspiration is game freak for making the Pokemon games, as it got people making fan made Pokemon games which when i got into making my own ideas i found i realy enjoyed the process. i got into sb when i got my 3ds and saw the sb in the eshop and not that long ago i got sb and since then iv been toying with it, working on my project, Paradox. i find joy in big elaborate storylines so that is a big focus in the development of this game. pokemon showed me story and worlds i enjoyed so since 3 years ago when i started making unfinnished plans, iv gotten in a habbit of making good story and that kind of things. (not like anyone ever complimented me, but thats another story)

nintendo and sega...and game freak...and ConcernedApe...and notch...and redigit...and valve...and namco....and 5th cell/shiver...

My main inspiration has been a few devs like, Renegade kid (moon chronicles which is an amazing game), VD-dev (ironfall which speaks for itself and is really fun) and RE-Logic (terraria and stuff which really pushed the limits to being creative and stuff). I love the way these devs work because they all did not start as big developers, in other words they did not have a huge organization working to make it perfect, they simply made it their way and in my opinion most of their games are and will always be amazing to me. (RE-Logic though obviously did expand its teams to what it is today)

mutant mudds is also a good game. R.I.P. Renegade kid

Yeah R.I.P. but they are still making games just under the new name :/, so not a total sadness.

hello swanbot, i see you like ironfall, and others of the like, i have ironfall on my 3ds, as well as terraria and others.

actually they split into two companies (which is partly why sonic mania didn't make it to the 3DS)

My main inspirations have been mostly Satoru Iwata (R.I.P.), and Shigesato Itoi (I know he didn't do much with computers, but he kinda counts), because the Earthbound/Mother series is my favourite game series.

Daisuke Amaya / That guy who made cave story Spent a bunch of time and made a game, then originally released it for free. And it was actually playable and interesting too. Makes me think if I ever actually stay on track with one of my projects I can make it great. EDIT: Lumage also helped me publish my first program on the PTC wiki, which was a big influence on my motivation to try and make programs.

Such is the nature of me saying "under a new name" and "they" and that had nothing to do with sonic mania lol.

The metal gear games. Pretty much anything I ever I do usually has some tiny bit of influence from those games. As far as devs go, I haven't payed much attention for some reason. Iwata and Sakurai are cool.

a long time ago, in a large, large world... there was a game called Laser Tag by griffpatch it utilized bleeding edge features on the platform it was on, using raycasting in a manageable yet stunning way the game was online multiplayer, with automatic matchmaking-- using only 8 unified variables across systems Laser Tag took me by surprise, inspiring me to innovate and create new aspects of games uncreated (i just posted bad afterthoughts in the end) welcome to the world of scratch

Actually, renegade kid offered to port sonic mania to 3DS, but then they split into two companies then the port died R.I.P.
