Potential for SmileNet, a smilebasic based net service. (using sound analysis)

Eh... no. SmileNet is a better option. I mean a phone line hooked up to a computer handling the calls. (Iโ€™m pretty sure it doesnโ€™t work exactly like that, but you need a receiving end) Direct access to the internet or through a PC connection, such as SmileNet, would work better.
No, it would be compatible with standard dial-up infrastructure. So if you pay for 300 baud dial-up it is as simple as calling into the number, and connecting your 3ds. The network would not be handled by me, at least as of now.
Then who? Who is willing to set up a dial-up service for an obscure 3DS game?
I really don't think you understand. It uses an old dial up service, such as the ones from the 1990s. You simply call it, and you're connected. There are PLENTY of them which exist. They don't need to be made for the 3ds.
Oh. Well. This is suddenly actually an appealing option. Of course, it will still be as slow as the โ€˜oldโ€™ SmileNet, which used audio (I think). Oh well, itโ€™s not like I have the right cords for that anyway ;-;

at that point if 8 samples per millisecond could somehow represent one byte then we could send 1000 bytes a second (1 Megabyte i'm pretty sure)
Technically that's 24 bytes less than a MB. :)

1000 bytes is a kilobyte.
1024 bytes is a KB... 1024*1024 bytes is a MB everything is powers of 2.

Ooh I can already tell this is going to get bad...

What makes you think that?
Not sure. Your project seems very interesting can't wait for a key to come out. :)
